Parents Sourcebook 2008-2009, The Metro St. Louis Guide to Smart Parenting
Thirty years after starting Beverly
Milder’s Musical Arts, founder and
director Beverly Milder Magency has
not lost the enthusiasm that drove her to
open her unique music school in 1978.
Dedicated to providing a nurturing
community for new and experienced
young musicians, Milder has
introduced thousands of students to
music who otherwise may not have
discovered the joy of taking music
lessons, Magency said.
“I’m very appreciative to the students
who have chosen to be here,” Magency
said. “I love that our school has been
able to offer the best music education
to students.”
This top-notch education is possible
because of the community Magency
created. Only hiring full-time, university-
degreed teachers provides a synergy
that is unique.
“Our teachers work as a team,” she
said. “We share ideas and have ongoing
education to fi nd the best musical
techniques that will help our students
have the best educational experience.”
About 100 students walk through
Beverly Milder’s doors each day, and the
students motivate each other with their
enthusiasm, friendship and curiosity.
“Children make friends in the classes
and many remain friends for many
years,” Magency said.
The school offers keyboard and singing
classes for children age 2 to fourth
grade and their parents. They also offer
private lessons in piano, voice and
guitar for students in third grade and
above and adults. Classes are offered
throughout the year.
To celebrate its 30th anniversary,
Beverly Milder’s Musical Arts is
offering a faculty recital on Sunday,
October 12 at The Ethical Society of St.
Louis, 9001 Clayton Road. The school
will also host a student appreciation
day in the spring. [Download PDF of Article]
